Clover 8 Bistro Vegetarian & Vegan Dining by Miaoyi @ Kallang Leisure Park

Hey Peeps! Clover 8 has opened! This is a new bistro cafe operating under Miaoyi, which is under the Xin Man Yuan group.
It is definitely good news to see more vegetarian/vegan dining places available that cater to our needs! What I heard is the Xin Man Yuan group is planning to open a high-end restaurant (located somewhere in orchard) soon to cater to provide a wholesome experience of Vegetarian Fine Dining. Other than this piece of good news, Xin Man Yuan is also planning to venture into the catering world where they would be providing catering services on the go!

Clover, on the other hand, provides a bistro, cafe style setting at more affordable prices that caters to the masses. We get to enjoy Thai, Vietnamese, Italian cuisines as well as traditional chinese dim sum made by the Hong Kong Chef. I understand that they have a real Thai chef doing the thai dishes too!

The Shop Front: located on Level 1 - makes it easy to find as its among the new cluster of cafes opening in that area. If you have not gone to Kallang Leisure Park for a long time, they are undergoing a facelift - new shops are opening!

Im delighted to find this new cafe within the vicinity of the Sports Hub since the new Kallang Wave Mall has nothing to offer.

Clean Interior Look of the Cafe
Clean & Green! I guess due to the fact that they just opened a couple of days ago, there isnt much crowd yet even though today is the 1st day of the lunar month. I hope Clover 8 will be here to stay and more people will get to know them though.

 Menu Of Clover 8
Its delightful to see Clover 8 offering quite a variety of dishes - ranging from Thai to Vietnamese to Local cuisines. They even have the Dim Sum that we tried from Xin Man Yuan. Price Range from $4.80 onwards.

Dim Sum $4.80
There are 4 types of Dim Sum for selection, not as much as Xin Man Yuan, but able to satisfy my craving for Siew Mai.
Chicken Rice Set $7.80
The Chicken Rice Set comes with Soup and Drink (we had lemongrass drink). Without the soup and drink costs $5.80. The Rice itself is good, but I find the portion a little small, so my dad would require an additional bowl of rice. "Chicken" is not too bad, which I believe is actually made of mock meat, Soup is ok, not too saltish. I could make out that it was brewed with corn and carrots so theres a little sweetness in it. Note that it is not known if the rice is cooked with butter or margarine. If you are Vegan, do check with them prior to ordering.

Pad Thai $5.80
I've been craving for Thai food for the longest time since my last time to Bangkok was many months back. This version of pad thai did not disappoint, the sweetness and sour in the stir fried kway teow tastes just nice.

Vegan Toasted Ravioli $5.80
This is my very first time trying Ravioli, so there is no comparison for me, personally, it tasted okay, except that the sauce - which i could not make out what it was did not really blend well with the ravioli. The ingredients comprises of mushrooms and basil - which is a strong herb, some may not like the taste of it.

I will want to be back after chatting with one of the owners there, as what impressed me were the variety of western dishes there - all of which are vegan! I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me as I saw "Cheese" but was informed that the "cheese" used is actually "yeast" made.
There's even squid ink pasta - which i will try someday - not sure if your mouth would be blacken by the sauce or not though!

Now at least there's a new place to eat before watching a sports game or concert!

Onn Vegetarian @ Kallang

I remember a couple of months back "passerby" asked me to try out the food at the stall near to Kallang MRT via my chatbox. Since there are many "passerby"s here, i'm not able to identify the exact you. I would like to thank you for the good recommendation. My friend and I totally enjoyed it.
This stall is located in a coffee shop at the foot of the HDB blks beside the MRT. Do note that there are 2 coffee shops here, so this stall is inside the coffee shop that is facing the main road.
Onn Vegetarian sells a wide variety of food ranging from Dry Noodles to laksa, kway chap, dumpling soups as well as some tze char dishes. Business is good perhaps there isn't much vegetarian places nearby.
Stall front

Quite a big stall and I was glad to see many customers eat from their stall.

Wanton Noodles $3

I tried this Wanton Mee as I've heard it was not bad. Indeed, the sauce was not bad.. noodles was chewy as well. I personally liked the cha siew as it was quite well marinated. As for the wantons, the ingredients wasn't a lot and I was eating more skin than ingredients, which I thought was a pity. The stall owner shared with us that the wanton was homemade by themselves. Overall, the taste was okay, but I hope that there would be more ingredients in future.

Kway Tiao Soup $3

Gwennie had kway tiao soup which comprises of beancurd, fish slices, vegetables and beansprouts. I liked it as well as the soup was very tasty.

Dumpling Soup $4

The picture of this was very tempting and we both loved dumplings. Sadly this was not handmade but brought from suppliers. The taste is pretty standard which the ingredients comprise of celery, cabbage, mushrooms.

Popcorn Chicken $5

This chicken is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Super delicious and it looked like popcorn chicken.

Location: G5 Food House, Blk 5 Upper Boon Keng Road #01-01 (5 mins walk from Kallang MRT station)

Opening Hours: 7am to 8.30pm (Closed on Sundays)

Iwannagetstuffed Vegetarian Restaurant @ Kallang Leisure (素芳斋) *CLOSED DOWN*

*CLOSED DOWN* I heard they relocated to Tampines, but not serving veg anymore.
I read on the opening of this new veg buffet place on the forum and I decided to try it out before Jay's concert last saturday. I was surpised by the shop space as I was thinking it might just be a small little cafe. The restaurant itself occupies approximately 3 shop space and can accomodate as much as 40 pax. It is seeing a reasonable crowd on event days. Layout of the restaurant is simple and bright.
It is a new and interesting concept for the entire place to offer nothing BUT only BUFFET. I met one of the manager who used to be working with loving hut. He mentioned that everything is vegan, with minimal mock items and there is no garlic & onion in all dishes. I even asked him for the ala carte menu, but there was none. The catch here is, there is no specific timing for buffet, meaning, as what the name suggests "Iwannagetstuffed", you can eat as long as you want, as much as you want. For a price this low, it is recommended that you starve yourself for 3 days, and from the opening till closing time, sit there and get stuffed.
One Price $12.90

I have no idea if there is any Child Price, so you may want to call before going. This is just some of the dishes and they vary every day. There is a blend of 20 over East and West cusines available.

Salad Bar

My own Salad creation

I loved how the braised peanuts taste!
Eddie's creations. The dishes include fried noodles, Spagetti, Olive Fried Rice, Hash Browns, Tofu, veg and even Chwee Kuey, Chee Cheong Fun included.

Diet: Vegan, No Onions & Garlic

All in all, this is not a bad choice to come but do not expect interesting dishes like those served at quality hotel. I personally like it as they keep changing the dishes. This is more of our usual fare but do note that drinks are not inclusive. You may just get plain water like we did.
Since it has only opened for a month, there is still room for improvement and I do hope later on they may have ala-carte menus available.
Location: 5 Stadium Walk, Kallang Leisure Park, Level 1-/33/34/35

Opening Hours: Till 9pm daily

Zi Zai Vegetarian Stall @ Old Airport Road

Was working till 9 one night so thanks to boss for the ride! Anyway, this stall has been around for ages and has moved from the front row to the middle. I must say that this stall has no relation to the Zi Zai Vegetarian cafe at tampines definitely. However, seems like many vegetarian stalls have the same name in SG. The old airport road hawker centre comprises of more than 100 stalls and I think this is the only vegetarian stall available. The good thing is it operates till 11PM.

Carrot Cake $2.50

Used to like carrot cake and duck rice from this stall before I found the uncle's stall at aljunid. Anyway, still not too bad. The hokkien mee is much better though. *It only tastes good with EGGs definitely.

After a day's work, its perfect with my fav. sugarcane juice.

Other Recommendations: Char Kway Tiao, Hokkien Noodles, Fish Sliced Noodles, Duck Rice.

Diet: Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian, contains eggs for some dishes.

Location: 51 Old Airport Road, Old Airport Hawker Centre, Stall No. 01-24, opens daily, till 11PM.

Sheng Wei Xuan Vegetarian Food (圣味轩素食) *MOVED*

Thanks to KH's info. This stall has relocated.
Thanks to miumiu's contribution. In fact I do dine at this place often since I stay near this stall, however I've always forgotten to take down information/pictures. Thanks to miumiu for letting us know the replacement for Ji Lin since the previous owner's had retired.
Anyway, this stall serves quite a variety of set meals and tze char as well.

Chicken Rice (素香饭) $2.50

Their chicken rice is a must try! The rice is fragrant and personally, I like their mock meat and the fried tofu as they taste well with the rice, hence it’s my favorite order. Note that the chilli is quite spicy and the soup is abit bland for my taste.

Kway Chap $2.50

As for the Kway Chap, the taste is average and nothing special about it.

The previous time I patronage them, I tried their handmade Mee Hoon Kway but didn’t manage to take a picture for it. It’s worth trying as there’s hardly vegetarian stall in Singapore which gets to sell this dish.

This stall also sells many other dishes like nasi briyani, hong kong noodles, vegetarian rojak, tohu goreng, tze char etc…
