Nutrihub the organic fusion cafe

This cafe has been operating quite some time back. Went with my parents as I was not able to find Jia Ming Vegetarian anymore! It is quite upsetting that the vegetarian places available at our famous Orchard Road is so limited. Note: Sunflower vegetarian and Grand Court Vegetarian have both closed down.
As for Jia Ming Vegetarian, not sure where it has moved to. Hence if you are looking for vegetarian places in Orchard, there is 1 stall in the Takashimaya Food Court, where the prices are really steep. Other than this stall, you may opt for this healthy cafe.

Fruity Salad

Ordered this for my parents as I like the one from Green Pasture. This version is much healthier as it comprises of beetroot. Ingredients are fresh and does make a good appetizer.

Dry Mushroom Udon

Picture from Nutri Web

Basically a simple dish comprises of capsicums and mushrooms. Quite tasty, but I thought that it was not worth the price.

All in all, this is an organic place for healthy eating. If you have a picky tastebud, you may find most of the dishes bland. To try a taste of pure nature, you may want to visit this place!

Location: Cuppage Plaza (Basement 2) - You will see a lot of Big Umbrella seats.

Genesis Vegetarian Health Food Restaurant

Had Lunch with Gilly last week. Thank you sooo much for the treat babe!

Since Gilly is working around that area, I will try to meet up with her ocassionally. Our favourite from this cafe is non other than the Mango Salad.
Mango Salad $10.90

Served in a large portion, this dish comprises of Mango Slices, Shredded Cucumbers and Mushrooms, walnuts as well as rice flour (those clear jelly type). All you have to do is to pour the special sauce on top and mix it like rojak. Totally addictive. This dish is served cold, and it is a blend of sweet and sour taste. Very similiar to the Thai Mango Salad dish. Anyway, it never fail to disappoint.

Almond Rice $4+

Gilly's favourite organic drink. She totally adores it and said that she doesnt mind drinking it every single day of her life. haha. Anyway, I tried and it does has a strong Almond Aroma in it, very natural and its not sweet at all.

I quite like the concept of the cafe, as they have a open kitchen for baking organic breads. However, if you do not take onion/garlic, do be careful of the dishes you order and make sure you enquire before ordering.

LivinGreens (本色)

Was there for dinner with gwennie last week. There are quite a number of choices available in the menu. I was very impressed with the attitude of the manager who served us, as he was asking how was the food etc, asking us to give them more ideas for improvement. These days, it is really important to always ask clients their opinions so that people will want to visit them again. Most importantly, parking was free behind the cafe! What I liked about this cafe is not only that the good service, but also, food is organic, and non of the dishes have garlic or onions in them, which can be a rare find in organic veg. cafes these days.

Sheperd's Pie

This is one of the dishes I liked. Most sheperd's pies sold outside are oily and fattening. However, not in this case. The top layer is not made of the normal flour which we use for baking. Instead, wheat flour is used. Ingredients is a minced mix of carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, mushrooms, bell peppers cooked with special organic seasoning. There is no mock meats used in any of the dishes, which I feel is good, as sometimes too much mock items is not ideal for our body.
Sesame Sauce Buckwheat Noodles

This is a very healthy dish which I would recommend if you are in for a very light meal. The sesame paste has a strong aroma, making the noodles very fragrant. Also, there are well cooked pumpkin slices, allowing a sweet litte taste when eaten together with the noddles.

Mushroom Dumplings

Gweenie's favourite of the night. The dumplings skin is in purple colour as it was made from beetroot juice. Lots of mushrooms in this dumpling, making it chewy. There is only a little flaw that the ginger slices were not too finely chopped, if not, i guess we would even finish the ginger slices. heh.

Overall experience: The cafe is clean and service was really good. A pity that I was not able to note down the prices of each dish. However, most dishes are within $10, making it affordable. I was also informed that the cafe also sells daily specials like Nasi Lemak, Minced meat Noodles, all in the organic version. Glad to have more organic cafes like that opening up. Also, the cafe conducts vegetarian classes sometimes. Once in a while, we need to detox and I personally feel that going organic is one of the better ways.

Green Pasture Health Food Trading

Before I am into organic foods, I always think that they are tasteless cos they are supposed to be healthy. However, after going to Genesis and Green Pasture, organic food cafes has becomed one of the choices I bring my friends/ colleagues who are non-vegetarians to.

Thanks to Maboo & Zenzen for introducing me Green Pasture. Im amazed that BiBimbup (Korean Rice) can be so tasty though its the organic version.

BiBimBup $7.50 (add $2 for Kimchi)

Grade: 5/5

Claypot Buckwheat Noodles $6.50

Grade: 4/5

Seaweed Roll $4

Grade: 3/5

Me and my colleague ordered Bibimbup, claypot noodles and seaweed roll. There is also self-serviced soup at $1 per bowl which is donated to the charity. Though there is not much mock meat in the food, the food is tasty and healthy. The seaweed roll comprises of beetroot which I do not usually like to take. However, it tastes good in the roll. We paid $20 in all for the 3 dishes above and 2 soups and we were full up the the brim. The only bad point I feel is that the owner of this cafe is not really friendly, as she is quite "loud", and seems a tad too proud of her food. heh. This cafe was also featured in the TV show a few months back.

Im surprised that Fortune Centre is full of vegetarian cafes and restaurants. The Vegetarian Health Food (which veggiebun LOVES) is located at the first floor. On the second floor, there are 3 more cafes (including pinetree cafe as well).

Anyway, if you are a tourist and would like to try some organic food. Fortune Centre is located 5 minutes away from the Famous Guan Yin Temple at Bugis.
