T & S Vegetarian Supply (达善斋料)

In some of my posts, I have mentioned about vegetarian food suppliers in SG. I must say that one of the biggest is friendly vegetarian supply as there is even a free delivery service. In fact, if you buy frequently, most suppliers do provide such a service at a minimum amount that you order.
Anyway, thanks to miumiu for this contribution again, as this is one of the supplier located in Hougang. Some suppliers do sell other items like the vegetarian sauces, canned food, seasoning sauces, maggie noodles etc.

This stall is located at the other end of the famous Nature Vegetarian Delights and it’s only a 10 minutes walk from Hougang Central. You can also walk from Punggol Park. Basically, half of the shop sells vegetarian eggless cakes and bread while the other half provides vegetarian food supply.
Most of the small breads are sold at 80cents each while the Meat Floss bread is sold at $1. There is a promotion when you buy 4 of the 80cents bread; it simply cost $3 instead of $3.20. Personally, I like the Whole Grain Bread ($1.80) as it’s appetizing even if you eat it without any jam. You could then taste the sweetness of the bread and the nuts in it really enhances the mouth feel.

Location: Blk 356 Hougang Ave 7 #01-783
Telephone: 6280 9477
*Do give them a call before you go as most suppliers operate half day only.

Recipe - Vegetarian Tom Yum Soup

As many of you may know, i am a HUGE fan of thai food and I've since been to yuanyuan numerous times since it is the only thai veg stall available here. I was extremely delighted when my coll shared the recipe of this traditional soup with me since she went over to BKK for a short 1/2 day cooking lesson there.
Thanks Shanny! Anyway, most tom yum soups in SG are made from the tom yam paste. This soup which I tried is basically cooked from scratch and gwennie commented that it is really tasty and original.

Mad Jack Cafe

This review is provided by Colin. I managed to write to the management of the cafe for certain clarifications.
Please note that the vegetarian options available at the cafe is more for people who prefer not to eat meat only. It is not suitable for pure vegetarians or vegetarians on religious belief. They do use a seperate pan/fryer to cook the vegetarian items. However, the pan could be washed and used for cooking other things at other times as it is impossible for them to totally separate everything vegetarian in operation. Hence if you do observe a strict diet, please look for other alternatives.

Menu

Vegetarian Chicken Burger & Chips $7.90

The mock chicken patty is the normal kind that we can get from most vegetarian supplier and is served with a some lettuce and tomato. The chips that came with it were crispy and very tasty.

My other friend ordered the Baked rice($8.90.) and his review was that it tasted normal and it is nothing special. I think Roma Deli's baked rice is still the best. There are many more choices on the menu and it does offer a good range for non picky vegetarians. Still a nice dining place without having to trouble your "meat loving" friends.
*The Mash Potato sauce is served with Lemon Sauce instead of Chicken Sauce. Do request for the vegetarian version.

Diet: Contains Dairy Products, Not suitable for strict vegetarians.

Thanks to colin for the contribution.

Cafe Salivation

I've yet visited this place even though there has been much hype and discussion in the forums. The meet up group has also organised a gathering here filling up almost every seat at this 2 storeys cafe. Sunnietart went a couple of days ago and has been talking about how GOOD the food was. This cafe is owned by the same group as the successful Raj Restaurant in Singapore. It is definitely a new venture into non-indian vegetarian fare by creating various options for all.

Veggie Soya Burger (Price Unknown)

Picture taken from sunnietart's FB

She took the soya burger and found that the veggie patty is light and soft unlike the usual mock patty. The mushroom soup was also tasty but was too late for a picture by the time she remembered.

Other than these 2 dishes, Cafe Salivation’s menu also includes Italian food like pasta and pizzas as well as Mexican dishes like Enchilada & Quesadilla. It is definitely a new avenue for vegetarians in Singapore. *Some dishes do include garlic/onion. Do enquire the staff for more info while placing your orders.

All in all, it is a neat and clean place that is strategically located right opposite Mustafa. Its good ambience and service has certainly leave a good impression for all. I guess 7 sensations has got a strong competitor now.

Jia Yuan Vegetarian @ Bedok (佳源素食) *CLOSED DOWN*

*CLOSED DOWN* due to increase in rental.

Thanks for miumiu's contribution once again... though i've stayed in bedok my whole life..I must admit that there are far too many stalls for me to try... I'm not sure if this is opened by my friend's parents.. or by the owners who used to operate at the 539 hawker centre near my flat.. they stopped selling a couple of years back, making me wonder if they are back in action...the serving plates look really familiar.

This stall is located inside the coffeeshop at Blk 122, which is about 10 minutes walk from Bedok Central. Note that this stall doesn’t sell mixed vegetable rice.

Roti Prata 80 cents, w/ egg $1.20

A must try for its famous roti prata as it tasted so crispy and fragrant. As for their curry sauce, it blended just nice with the prata.

Kuay Chap $2.50
Their kuay is just average which I think is not fragrant enough, but it’s a healthier choice for those who don’t like oily stuff as they didn’t add in sesame oil. Personally, I like its soup as it’s neither too salty nor blend and it tastes even better when you add some chilli sauce it.

Minced Meat Dry Noodle $2.50

Their noodle is not chewy enough but it tasted nice with the minced meat. The chilli sauce for this dish is quite spicy for me and I am abit disappointed with the fishball as it’s tasteless.

I also ordered their Nasi Lemak for take away and I must compliment that their rice tasted so delicious which I think I will sure go back again for this dish. It comprises of vegetarian ham, otah fish, tempeh, vegetable chip, chicken dice and so on, depending on what ingredients they have on that particular day. Their otah fish is the best I’ve tried so far, hence it’s a must try.

Healthy Vegetarian Food @ Golden Shoe Carpark (金富素食)

Finally had the chance to write about this stall. I was there a week back on the busy 15th of the lunar month. As usual it was long queue at this stall. Have heard about this stall that the food is not too bad. It a pity that I was not able to try the tze char hence I've opted for beehoon.

Stall Front

Fried Bee Hoon $2
3 dishes costs as little as $2. It is really affordable. I had my beehoon with Long beans, potato and the fried 'goose'. The bee hoon wasnt too oil and was quite chewy. I like the long beans was it was well cooked.

There are also other tze char meals like hor fun available.
