Blue Bistro @ Bugis Burlington Square

Blue Bistro positions itself as a health food store and being strategically located in Bugis (where there are close to 10 other competitors within the vicinity, there must be something different served to attract customers.
Ms Veg was at Sim Lim the other day hence decided to try this cafe out since Burlington Square is right beside. Note that there's no Veg food in Sim Lim!

The Cafe
You will need to walk inside the building (level 1) to find this cafe. Its a small and cozy place, and ms Veg thinks can sit around 20 pax full capacity.

The Menu
The menu features quite a number of interesting dishes and cooked in the healthiest way possible. Note: everything is air-fried, so eat without guilt here.

Our meals~
Everything is in the "tabao" form as there isnt much space in the kitchen for washing.

Nasi Lemak $5
I was surprised that this Nasi Lemak was so healthy! They only use Basmati Rice here, and basmati rice is more expensive than normal white rice. There wasnt any mock used in this nasi lemak, as the "Ikan Bilis" was made from mushroom stalks.

Dried Noodles with Crispy Chicken $3.00
The Crispy Nuggets was the healthiest version Ms Veg ever had as there wasn't any oil at all given that it was air fried. It was a little hard. Noodles was chewy and beansprouts were crunchy.

Cabbage Soup $1
Ordered a soup to go with our meal. Tasted like those healthy soups my mum would cook at home.

It was rather crowded on a normal working day, and its good to cleanse our body once in a while with healthy meals. The owner was friendly as well and he even gave us free air fried fries. They do serve other local delights like Rendang Curry and Udon Soup.

Note that their Mother's Day booking is full!

Miao Xin Vegetarian 妙心素食 @ Bukit Timah (Former Xin Man Yuan)

Xin Man Yuan (formerly @ Chinatown) has since moved to Bukit Timah and rebranded themselves with a new Name - Miao Xin Vegetarian.
Ms Veg was in the West and decided to make a trip to this newly located cafe. Note that Parking can be difficult, as there's only parallel along the shop houses, or further up at courts. No free parking.

The new Cafe Name
Its a smaller outlet compared to its previous location which is now replaced by Miao Yi Vegetarian (Formerly Coronation). They are still under the same management I think. it was dark and I couldnt take the entire cafe picture.

Simple Cafe Design - You can choose an Al Fresco setting or air conditioned sitting.

The Menu
Other than rebranding, their menu is almost brand new as well! Also, most items are more economical now.
Here's some of the pages taken.

Most of their Patrons ordered the Congee set which comes with a claypot of Congee and 5 small dishes to share.

Kway Chap $1
Decided to order the Kway Chap instead as the porridge portion was bigger. You can order the sides separately. While the Kway was smooth, ms veg finds the soup a little too sweet, as I have expected it to be saltish instead.

Braised Tau Kee (Beancurd Sheets) $2
Juicy~

 Braised Tau Pok $2
Yums~

It was Chili that saved the Kway Chap~ yummy and spicy

Crispy Duck $8

The Crispy duck does not contain any mock meat as it was basically mushrooms wrapped in beancurd sheets and deep fried with a batter. I find the skin a little hard, but it was still ok with the sauce (甜面酱) and lettuce. $8 is a cheap deal.

Double Mushrooms with Salted Egg $8

Salted Egg is the hottest item these days and if there is anything a Must order from Miao Xin, it has to be this dish (NOT VEGAN). There's 2 types of mushrooms fried in batter and coated in salted Egg sauce. It doesn't look that fantastic but the taste blew me away. It was so good that it would make this cafe famous for its salted egg dish. hehehe~

There's still so much to try from Miao Xin and am glad that the prices are not too ex. They do charge 10% Service Tax as well as GST 7%. Even their laksa is cheaper than clover's one.

The only sad thing gone is the dim sum that Ms veg now has to go HK or Macau to satisfy her craving.

nomVnom @ The Central (Clarke Quay)

Ms Veg went to nomVnom previously when they were at Raffles Place and recently they have moved to Clarke Quay since the beginning of the year! Finally I went to visit with the mister and was surprised to see my fellow blogger Friend Keith (www.travelinspiration.com) there too. So, look out for his post too!
Anyway, nomVnom in my opinion is a close competitor to Vegan Burg. However, they offer a lot more options in comparison. To date, they have 16 types of Burgers, 13 types of Sides and 20 types of drinks available!
nomVnom New Outlook

It was full house on a friday evening. Ms veg calculated that they should be able to cater to 30 pax on full capacity. Its rather open style as compared to the previous location, but it was impressive to see the full house!

The Menu
You can also follow the website to see more updates of the other 4 new burgers.

I have tried 4 burgers so far.. so there's 12 more to go!!

Rocket Tower $13.90
My Mister ate this the last round at Raffles Place. Its a HUGE burger with double patty, and if you just want 1 patty, the Nom Nom Burger comes with just 1.

How the set meal works: 1 Burger + 1 Side + 1 Drink = Total Price - $2 = Meal Price

Spicy Rice Burger Set $6.90 + $3.90 Goru Balls
This time decided to try the Spicy Rice Burger which doesnt come with a bread.Instead, it has a Rice Patty on top, middle was turnip mixed with a special homemade peanut Curry Sauce (not spicy) and then the meat patty at the bottom. The way to eat this is to use your fork and knife! Ms Veg initially thought the Rice Patty was quite saltish but it tasted well with the sauce and turnip. It actually took us some time to realize it was actually ketupat (the malay rice cake that people eat with Satay) dipped in batter and deep fried. It was a good innovation that came from Satay I guess.

Goro Balls is actually potato balls. They actually mixed vegetables inside and for a moment ms veg thought there were onions! Tastes similar to Vegan Burg's Spinach Pops.

QQ Cheezy Burger  + Truffle Fries $5.90 + Green Tea
This isnt a nice pic, so Ms Veg took from the FB page

*Taken from Nom's FB page

This burger totally blew me away! The chewiness of the patty was awesomely yummy, tasted a lot like the Calamari Rings. Truffle Fries was good as well! Most importantly, there's no cheese at all. Its totally vegan!

Its interesting to see so many options available at Nom Vnom and whats great is everything is vegan with no Onions/Garlic, so we can eat everything on the menu. For the health conscious you, they do have steamed patties for some burgers if you do not want to take fried foods.

Ms Veg tried the Sausauge (with courtesy from Melano) and felt that it was overly fried and lost its juiciness. Vegan Franks from Vegan Burg is better in terms of this.

The "Otah Otah, Meatless Mexican, Beetroon Hummus, Baby Truffle etc have steamed patties. Do check with the staff before ordering. We spent a total of $26 for 2 Burgers, 2 Sides and 1 Drink. Not your everyday economical meal, but worth a visit and indulgence once in a while.

I will definitely be back for the other 12 burgers!

GroVe 一素 @ Waterway Punggol Shopping Mall

Grove has started its operations for a couple of months now and Ms Veg finally had some time to bring her folks there!
I understand that this is a new sister company of "Elemen" which is operated under the Koufu Group.

The Cafe
Located just beside the Food Court (managed by Koufu as well) it is easy to find this place. Also, there's no veg stall in the food court.
Grove sells mostly fusion cuisines covering both Western and Chinese Food. In addition, they also have a Taiwanese Bubble tea (Utopia) counter to complete your meal with.

Lotus Rice $7.80
Ordered this and it was served hot. Theres quite a lot of ingredients in the rice, ms veg quite like it.

Kung-Bao Monkey Head Mushroom Noodles $8.80
My parents order this and were pleasantly surprised that the noodles was really chewy! They have in in the sweet and sour version (for non-spicy diners).

Charcoal Burger $7.80
I had this and didnt know what was in the patty until I read people commented it was quinoa, which was the reason why it made the meal very filling.

Herbal Noodles $7.80
My nephews must eat when they go there as the soup was yummy.

Fries $3.80

It was a good experience visiting the Grove and I've read from their facebook post that they have launched new items! Ms Veg would love to try the laksa pasta next!

Hopefully we can see more veg places in Punggol for the benefits of the new residents there too!
