BB Home Sweet Home Cafe (甜甜屋) *CLOSED DOWN*

The stall originally sells desserts, but seems like now they are catering vegetarian food as well!
Thanks to clare for trying out, since its near her place!

Curry Fish Rice ($3.50)
Veg fish slices and lady fingers in curry. Curry taste not too spicy and just right. Was surprised that they give spinach as a side.

Steak Rice ($3.50)
This sweet and sour pork chop rice is v tasty! As the mock meat is deep fried before cooking with sweet and sour sauce, not suitable if you are watching your diet though. Serves with spinach as well as a side. Worth a try!
Hot & Spicy Fish Rice ($3.50)

Sauce is a little spicy, but tasty. Mock fish is soft.

Pictures on the menu look very appetising. They do have set meals, veg dishes, claypot dishes, soups, tze char etc. We were too full to have desserts, but could see a few pictures on the wall, selling a variety of desserts. Like puddings, eclairs, ice cream etc.

Forest Dew Vegetarian Cafe

Thanks for Clare for always exploring new places on my behalf! I've heard about this cafe quite sometime back, but didnt have the time to try out the food.

Daily Specials:
Monday - Veg chicken rice
Tuesday to Thursday - Mixed Veg Rice (Steamed rice + 3 dishes $3.50)(Brown rice + 3 dishes $4.00)
Friday - Nasi Lemak
The menu comes with numbers and you are given a small ordering form and pencil to fill out the table number and ur orders.

Sambal Sweet Potato Leaves $4

Served in a small plate was what seems to be small portion, but as just right for 2 people. If there are more people, can always order probably a sambal kangkong, as the sambal chilli is good!

Mango prawn $7

Deep fried veg prawn with sweet mango sauce poured all over.Mango sauce a little sweet, but overall taste was alright.

Satay fish $7

This dish was a little disappointing, as the veg fish didn't taste v good. And the satay sauce was non other than the peanut based satay sauce which was poured over the deep fried fish.

Korean Beef Set ($9)

This set is served with rice. Ingredients comprise of Black pepper sauce with mixed beans, ginger and corn. The Veg beef taste quite good abd chewy. Seaweed soup with beancurd, inoki mushroom, vegetables and mock meat. It is quite cheap and can be shared by 2 persons.

Belachan Chilli Fish ($7)

This dish was a disappointment, as it didn't turn out as good as it looks on the menu. I realiased that the fish dishes served here isnt that great. Though the belacan chilli was good, overall dish was too dry to the taste. Should have more chilli gravy, rather than juz deep fry the fish and then put some chilli on it. I prefer Liwei's
bbq chilli fish more!

Note: A bowl of steamed rice cost 80 cents. We will still go back and try other foods on the menu like Japanese, wide selection of brewed soups ($3.50/bowl) and many smoothies and beverages.

Healthy Vegetarian (健康素食。延年益寿) @ Bedok Blk 537

There is no stall name available, only the vegetarian food word. This stall is located at Blk 537 in bedok north.
This is an option for people who are looking for food in the east side at night.
I tried the Yong Tau Foo.

Yong Tau Foo $2.90
Each ingredient costs 40cents, and there is no minimal amount you choose. Tastes not bad! I took a total of 6 items @ $2.40, and added noodles @ $2.90.
Nonetheless, there are other food items available and this stall is famous for its curry~

Nutrihub the organic fusion cafe

This cafe has been operating quite some time back. Went with my parents as I was not able to find Jia Ming Vegetarian anymore! It is quite upsetting that the vegetarian places available at our famous Orchard Road is so limited. Note: Sunflower vegetarian and Grand Court Vegetarian have both closed down.
As for Jia Ming Vegetarian, not sure where it has moved to. Hence if you are looking for vegetarian places in Orchard, there is 1 stall in the Takashimaya Food Court, where the prices are really steep. Other than this stall, you may opt for this healthy cafe.

Fruity Salad

Picture from Nutri Web

Ordered this for my parents as I like the one from Green Pasture. This version is much healthier as it comprises of beetroot. Ingredients are fresh and does make a good appetizer.

Dry Mushroom Udon

Picture from Nutri Web

Basically a simple dish comprises of capsicums and mushrooms. Quite tasty, but I thought that it was not worth the price.

All in all, this is an organic place for healthy eating. If you have a picky tastebud, you may find most of the dishes bland. To try a taste of pure nature, you may want to visit this place!

Location: Cuppage Plaza (Basement 2) - You will see a lot of Big Umbrella seats.

Opening Hours: 10am to 7pm daily; Sunday till 4pm

Johor Bahru - Three O Cafe (圆缘园)

Pictures taken frm cass's FB, since she was too busy to help me do a review.
Anyway, the VSS members went on a day trip last year to JB (NANAS & Animals Paradise) and this was their lunch location.
Note: If you remember who Xie Shaoguang (Ex-TCS artise) was, this is opened by him.
This is the cafe front pic. Looks cool~

The group had 2 set lunches to choose from:

Nasi Lemak (Price unknown)

Comprises of Peanuts, dried fish slices and a sambal dish. I am not able to make out whats the green veg on the left. Nonethless, people who tried this dish loved the chili!

Braised Meat Rice

Comprises of tofu and mixed meat chucks. Cass mentioned that it was very tasty!
Nonetheless, there are al la carte dishes available at this cafe. If you do missed shao guang a lot, do take a trip to JB and support him!

Recipe - Prosperous Yu Sheng (Raw Fish Salad)

Happy CNY folks! In this Ox Year, I would like to thank everyone who have contributed to my food blog, and at the same time, wish all of you a Great year ahead! May more people turn vegetarians too!
I havn't been blogging due to my endless baking sessions. New dish this year: Yu Sheng (also known as the Raw Fish Salad). This is basically a local dish where on the 7th day of the New Year, people will gather to mix a plate full of good ingredients in hope for a new year ahead. The original version comprises of salmon normally. In a vegetarian version, i've replaced raw fish to vegetarian abalone. This dish is suitable for vegans as there are no diary products. Also, there is no cooking required.

Vegetarian Raw Fish Salad

Ingredients:

1.5 Fresh Lettuce
3 Carrots
1 Radish
Ground Peanuts - 100g
Sesame - 100g
Ginger - Different colour assortment - 20g Each
Orange skin - 20g
Winter Melon Slices - 20g
Mango Slices - 20g
1 Vegetarian Abalone
Cracker 100g

Seasoning:
Plum Sauce 1Cup
Pepper 1tbsp
Cinnamon Powder 1tbsp

Method:
1. Shred all carrots and Radish into long slices. You may use the special peeler as shown in the picture. As there are a lot of water in the carrots and radish, do dry them first.
2. It is good to use fresh mango. In this case, I used preserved mangos. Slice them into long pieces as well.
3. You may get the ginger slices at most supermarkets.
4. Slice the abalone into long slices as well.
5. Slice the Lettuce into thin slices.
6. Lay the lettuce and carrots into a big plate, then followed by the ginger slices, mango and abalone. Lastly, place the Peanuts and sesame on top.

End Product:

Tossing:
Tossing is a significant process in making this salad. Before mixing, pour in all the seasoning on top of the vegetables and place all the crackers on top and begin tossing.
Remember to say some nice verses like "Gong Xi Fa Cai!", "Xue Ye Jing Bu" (Prosperous & Good Studies) Etc. to wish each other luck!
Happy New Year Folks!
