Xuan Miao Vegetarian @ Circuit Road

Xuan Miao Vegetarian has been around for quite some time, and i've been eating once every fortnight couple of months back as I had craving for the yummy soup.
Stall Front
A pity i didnt get a clearer pic with my phone!
Anyway, manned by 4 persons, do note that you have to wait up to 30 minutes every night! The uncle who takes your order will give you a number and will call you when your number is up. To me, the soup is worth the wait.

Selling nothing but handmade noodles only, this is one of the stalls that does not sell your normal traditional economical vegetarian beehoon or mixed vegetables rice.

 Handmade Noodles (板面) $3.50
If I remember correctly, the soup noodles or mee hun kuey costs $3.50 while the dry noodles costs $4. I usually go for the soup ones. The ingredients are simple - loads of vegetables, seaweed, mushroom stalk, Vegetarian Fish Maw and Vegetarian Fish slices.
All the ingredients are the same for all their noodle items. The soup based is cooked with simple vegetables but tasty and light. If you are not into mock items, you may request for the stall owners to leave out the fish maw. I personally liked it with the chili especially.

If you are at circuit road and running out of ideas to eat, this stall is located within the cluster of vegetarian stalls in the hawker centre. Worth a visit if you are looking for something light.

Location: Blk 79A Circuit Road, Opens from 5PM till 11PM

Carrot Cake Stall @ Aljunied *CLOSED DOWN*

CLOSED DOWN* I have no idea where this stall owner has went.. please let me know if you have any information.

I do not recall it having any stall name, but just a simple 'vegetarian' word and the food sold. The owner used to operate at the circuit road hawker centre but he has moved a couple of times since the hawker centre is under renovations. The uncle does not sell a lot of variety, but specialises in Fried Oyster Cake and Carrot Cake. I personally liked his version as it is more authentic than others. Even my non-veg friends like it.

Fried Carrot Cake $2

I took this a couple of months back when he was still located opposite geylang library. I heard he has since moved. Anyway, Fried Carrot Cake and Oyster are local delicacies that I adore. Although Im trying hard to go vegan, I find it hard to resist this still. Carrot Cake is actually fried using Rice Cake, Lots of Eggs and preserved raddish. It can be fried with or without dark sweet soya sauce.

As for Oyster Omelete, the "oyster" is replaced with straw mushrooms in the veg. version.

Other Dishes: Fried Kway Tiao

Diet: Lacto-Ovo- Vegetarian , Contains Eggs

Very Nice Vegetarian Specialty Station (真好吃素食专卖站) - CLOSED

CLOSED DOWN

I guess the english name of the stall is a direct translation from the chinese one. Anyway, this is another stall located at the food centre along circuit road.
As the stall name suggests, the specialty from the stall is non other than Roti Prata.

Roti Prata
This is the egg version which ive always adore. Costs $1.20 per piece. Taste wise, the prata skin itself is cripsy on the outside, and its always recommended to eat it while its hot. Sadly, I was very disappointed with the curry. Could not finish the whole bowl of it, as there was too much tumeric powder in it. Still, if you are running out of food to eat, this is one choice available at circuit road. Note: Waiting time can be quite long, as there is only 1 seller tending the stall.

Prices: Without egg: $0.80; With Egg: $1.20; With cheese & Egg: $2.00

Other food options: Dry Mee

Location: Blk 79A Circuit Road

Xiang Guan Vegetarian Stall (香源素食) *Newly Reopened*

One of the stalls that i love to go is located at Circuit Road (Aljunid area). The hawker centre here is deemed as the heaven for vegetarians, as there are around 6 stalls selling vegetarian food of all varieties. Most importantly, prices are affordable at this place. We will always go to this place when we run out of ideas of places to eat.

Popiah $1.00; Chwee Kway $1.00; Chee Chong Fun $1.00

Had dinner with my parents that day and we ordered the traditional chinese kway. I've always like popiah (the non-fried version) and the auntie selling this gives a generous serving. The turnip is juicy and tastes perfect with the sweet sauce. Also, my dad loves the chwee kway. Though there is nothing special in the chwee kway, given the increase in prices of flour, the auntie still sells at 5 pieces for a dollar, hence it is still very much worth our support. Chee Chong Fun is soft and tastes fine with the sauce as well. Price is also at 2 pieces for a dollar.

One thing good about the hawker centre is most stalls sell till late in the night. Hence, if you are still craving of small bites after 10pm, this is the place to head for! However, do remember not to take supper every night, as it takes years for a tummy to dissolve!
